Week 3 - Discipline

March 1 - 6, 2021

Reading: Matthew 4:3-4 and Luke 19:1-10 When he was in the wilderness, Jesus was tempted to turn stones into bread. He knew that was not what God wanted him to do so he did not change the rocks. Later, Jesus did do amazing things. Jesus fed people who were hungry for food, love, and words of encouragement. Sometimes when you are sad or angry, it could feel like your heart has become a rock. Jesus can change your heart when it feels like this! He is always with you to help you through the hard times in life.

Reflection Questions: Is there a place in your life where you could make better choices? How can you help someone who has a "rock" in their heart?

Week 4 - Compassion

March 8 - 13, 2021

Reading: Luke 3:21-22 The sea shell, is an ancient symbol of baptism. Lent began as a time to teach new Christians about the meaning of their Christian faith before they were baptized at Easter. Jesus began his ministry after his baptism.

Reflection Questions: Do you remember your baptism? What does being Baptized me to you?

Week 5 - Praise

March 15 - 20, 2021

Reading: John 13:1-17 1 Corinthians 12:4-7 Because Jesus was fully human, like we say in the creed, we know he understands how we feel from inside a body just like ours.  No matter how we behave, Jesus always invites us to be a part of his work in the world. Jesus knows we can do good things on earth, just like he did. The 40 days of Lent give us time to slow us down so we can pay attention to this part of our life. We can take time to think about ways we can live more like Christ.

Reflection Questions: What can I do to be more like Jesus?

Week 6 - Hope

March 22 - 27, 2021

Reading: Matthew 13  The miracle of Jesus death on the cross and resurrection gives us hope and new life in him. When we put our hope and trust in Jesus, amazing things can and will happen. Jesus can change lives.

Reflection Questions: What things can you think of that change? Are there miracles in your life?
